Polyester and Nylon are NOT Compostable

I must admit, I do not follow fashion. I am not sure what is "in" right now. I just buy the styles, colors and fabrics I like to wear. I am kind of an unintended anti-fashionista. I almost always shop at thrift stores because not only do I save a lot, but I also find the most interesting pieces of clothing. My favorite thrift store is the Value Village located on Pembina Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, which I visit every time we travel to Winnipeg to spend time with Jay's parents (see photo taken from Google Street View). One thing I always check when picking my clothes is the fabric label. I always want to make sure the item is made of a natural fabric. I am always astonished at the amount of synthetic fabric used in clothing. A large majority of clothes are made of synthetic fibers which do not biodegrade, are not compostable and take a very long time to decompose according to an article published in Grist:
"Casual composters report that a year after adding a cotton-poly T-shirt to a pile, the cotton is gone and all that remains is a spooky polyester skeleton. Estimates for a more complete breakdown of polyester seem to range from 20 to 200 years, given various conditions." (From Grist, "Ask Umbra: Is Fabric Compostable")
What is worse is that synthetic fabric breaks down over time in small particles and we end up breathing it in without realizing it. One of the worse uses of synthetic fabric is for curtains. Curtains exposed to the sun will break down quickly and the small synthetic particles float around and pollute indoor air.

War Criminals and 9/11 Opportunist Exposed on Vandalized Billboard

Colin Powell, Stanley McChrystal, and Rudy Giuliani are certainly hypocrites when it comes to the due process. I find it amusing that this occurs so often and it's never discussed. Am I saying that I disagree? Absolutely not, the first amendment was first on the list for a reason, express yourself.

Barack Obama, Ed Schultz Make GQ‘s ’Least Influential People Alive’ List

While magazines across the country offer readers their pick of the world’s “most influential people,” this year, GQ magazine is bringing you the “The 25 Least Influential People Alive” — and on the list are MSNBC host Ed Schultz, and, of all people, President Barack Obama. This is the same magazine that oddly, named Obama “Leader of the Year“ in 2009 and ”Man of the Year“ in 2008 while calling Sarah Palin ”dangerous“ and ”poisonous.”

But now, GQ has weighed the data and places Obama as the 25th least influential person in the world. Joining the president and Schultz are Daily Beast and Newsweek editor Tina Brown, along with Hosni Mubarak, Hank Williams Jr. and John Boehner, who came in at number 24.

While the issue has not yet been published, TVNewswer brought us a taste of what GQ had to say about Schultz:
…Then there pundits like Ed Schultz. Do you watch “The Ed Show” on MSNBC? Of course you don’t. No one does. The only reason people watch “The Ed Show” is they’re working out in a hotel gym and they can’t find a staff member to change the channel to ESPN.
But where GQ really pulls out all the stops, is in disparaging Tina Brown. Forbes’ Jeff Bercovici brings us that bombshell:
Brown spent 2011 transforming Newsweek from a magazine no one reads into a magazine no one reads but everyone despises. That’s what happens when you star-f**k the corpse of Princess Diana by Photoshopping her at age 50 for your cover, then do a separate Photoshop of her holding an iPhone, and then create a fake Facebook page for her that includes wall posts from Deepak Chopra. Did you know Tina and Di were friends? They were! This Photoshopped image of them having lunch with Stevie Nicks is proof!

We will have to wait until GQ publishes its Least Influential People list to see what the magazine had to say about Obama.

But even if GQ has fallen disenchanted with Obama, the president still has his top 50 ranking as an “Influential Jew” by Jewish Forward magazine.
